People are always saying That life is too short not too take risks But if we should be the one to always take the chance Would we ever think what danger exists?
Take, for example, The story of young Betty Sue She took the risk Because she didn't believe what it would do
She was just a sophomore In her small home town’s high school She was very independent And stubborn as a mule
She was invited To a party with some friends But when she first arrived She had no idea how the night would end
Someone asked her if she would like To have an alcoholic drink She knew it could be trouble But she decided to take the risk—not think.
She told herself she’d just have One small drink that night But then she had another then one more And soon she wasn’t thinking right
She felt as if the world was spinning Ten times faster than before She tried to cure her feeling By drinking "just one more"
She took the risk that night But before she reached her house She was lying at the side of the highway With blood upon her blouse
She had been driving that horrible night After having had too much to drink If only she hadn’t took the risk If she had only stopped to think….
Then she wouldn’t be lying in front of the church And everyone’s eyes filled in a teary mist If only she had thought twice And wouldn’t have taken the risk

I think it's good, but please no bumping without replies...if people want to reply, they will. One way to not get any replies is to keep asking for them.

I like the way you rhymed the second and the last lines. I didn't notice it the first time around, but I did the second time. You also have a really good point, in that drinking and driving is a terrible thing, and people need to think more before getting behind the wheel, or before taking a drink with the knowledge that they might be driving somewhere later. Thanks for sharing. Good message behind the poem.

"To die, to sleep -- To sleep, perchance to dream, ay there's the rub, For in that sleep of death what dreams may come When we have shuffled off this mortal coil, Must give us pause; there's the respect That makes calamity of so long life." -William Shakespeare, Hamlet
I liked how you used a poem to tell this story. I also think the meaning here is good. Though I must say If you never took risks nothing would ever happen you wouldn't get married.... but in this case you are right. don't take risks that have to do with drinking and driving. Nice work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes I see your face... I guess it's just a reflection of what I want to see. But it seems so real does it mean you're really watching over me? ~me

Love can tear and rip you apart, but if you're very lucky, it'll put you back together again.
