Today

"Hey, would you ever go out with someone like me?"
I dropped the seed at nineteen
And you all wise and above
Covered it secretly with your love.

Pride and passion
You and me

At twenty, I was lost and very lonely
Engaged to a twit to whom monster trucks and
Wrestle Mania brought ecstasy
Poor little me.

Dumb and dumber
Him and me

Sadly I was more lost when I left
Drowning in drink and fun
Nights were cold and long
Sleeping where I didn't belong

Cold and colder
Them and me

No direction
Looking for the end
Void of love
Then, you my friend
Saved me

"Want to go for coffee?"
We went, I drove, erratically;
My life, but you didn't mind
We stopped at the doughnut shop
Got coffees to go
Sipped and talked
It started to snow
You noticed the flag
Trembling in the night

Pride and passion
You and me

Flying in the spotlight
"If you go out there and sing the anthem
I'll give you a kiss."
Oh, what bliss
I reached for the door and grabbed our life
Fourteen years
today
What can I say

Pride and Passion
You and me
Happy anniversary

luvleetasha,
This was just right! What a great story!
I haven't got any criticism, I think you did very well!

luvlee-
sometimes we have to sift through a lot of garbage before we find the treasure.

It looks as if you have found yours!

Happy Anniversary my friend. May the rest of your days together be a journey filled with many rewards.

All the best to you and hubby Smile

tasha! Oh, this was so great. I hope someday I shall be able to identify with the eventual happiness of this poem. Something to look forward to. You have a wonderful way of expressing yourself - I loved the 'pride and passion' line. thanks...

for reading and wishing us well.
It's funny, most people said we'd never last (mainly because hubby is 14 years older) . . .ah, what do they know! Smile

Thanks again

p.s. We had a wonderful anniversary weekend.

Oooohh luvleetasha and (your) hubby, hope you have a happy, happy and a very happy time – today and ever after!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All the very best of luve and luck (“luve” just came out but seems nice so that’s how I’d spell it here). Dawn, from what (little) your works and words have told us about Mr. Hubby, he seems to be a Cool person – just like you, and I think you’re both lucky to have each other and deserving of each other.

Celebrate Rolling, be happy, have a bright morning, fun day, romantic evening and sexy night!

Nice poem by the way Smile... written by heart, and heart-warming Smile. Well-written, didja show him Smile? (edit - so many smileys, I noticed, can ya guess I’m happy for ya both? LOL)
Smile
God bless you both..
My heartiest wishes for a lovely, stable marriage and lifelong friendship.

And watch us live
Our little lives
and weep for us.

Time and again since my tenure here I've seen "disrespectful" clashes, leading to the locking of posts (repression and resentment), the leaving of good quality members(still more resentment), and the out and out banning of some(unending resentment).

I love this poem and your poetical tribute to your marriage.

After duly noting your 17 years, I suspect John Henry Newman's poem has application here for what marital "yoked-ness" may mean, me thinks:

Life's Lessons

I learn as the years roll onward
And leave the past behind,
That much I have counted sorrow
but proves our God is kind;
That many a flower I longed for
Has a hidden thorn of pain,
And many a rugged path
Led to fields of ripened grain.

The clouds but cover the sunshine;
They cannot banish the sun.
And the earth shines out the brighter
When the weary rain is done.
We must stand in the deepest sorrow
To see the clearest light,
And often from wrong's own darkness
Comes the very strength of right.

We must live through the weary winter,
If we would value spring.
And the woods must be cold and silent,
Before the robins sing.
The flowers must be buried in darkness,
Before they can bud and bloom.
And the sweetest and warmest sunshine,
Comes after the storm and gloom.

So the heart, from the hardest trial,
Gains the purest joy of all.
And from the lips that have tasted sadness,
The sweetest songs will fall.
For as peace comes after suffering,
And love is reward of pain,
So, after earth, comes heaven,
And out of our loss, the gain.

From "Dumb and dumber.... to "cold and colder", Thank God His tender hands of love continue to lead you into deeper waters of true love.

WOWOWOWOW! You lucky thinglets... seventeen years, with the love-o-meter still rising! Not an easy job, but you guys pulled it off well.. I wish you have had the happiest anniversary ever (yet the least amongst the ones to come), and many, many years of such real togetherness and friendship.

Big Grin

MBC,

From the beginning you've made me feel deeply loved! NEVER had I known such love. I sure as hell recognized it, but does that mean I'd know what to do with it?

Let's just say I try.

This mis-guided girl (for crying out loud-I'm almost 40) . . . this woman tries.

I'm going to borrow a line from our song: "These times are troubled and these times are good
And they're always gonna be . . ."

Troubled – with a capital T! While the good is the glue holdin' me and you together . . .18 years today.

Ananya ~ it's been thin a time or two but it's still sticky to two who want to be stuck!
