They should have written news reports about it. “Lost girl found.” [You found me, little and broken but good, yeah, still good.] You gave me a thousand words disguised as silence or birds, and they danced to the beat of my heart. And they danced to the beat of ‘I love you.’
Yes, they should have written news reports about it.
But suddenly [like the villain in the pantomime, like the unimaginary monster in the cupboard, under the bed, or on top of it] he said you had to leave. I refused to believe, I refused to believe, and I whispered, ‘Je t’aime, te amo, I love you, ich liebe dich,’ like a frantic, malfunctioning machine. The words flew back across six thousand miles, little dreams withdrawn, promises broken. I clutched a few; they died, forgetting that they were once mine, were alive.
And now, all the headlines need say, is “Lost girl, lost.”

There are very few poems where my mind is crowded with words; just pleading to be let out, but at the same time, there are no words to be spoken; t'would be a shame to say something that will fall short of the acclaim this piece deserves.
Let me just say, that I loved this, Stella. T'was brilliant. Thank you for sharing!

If only words could soothe the ache, I'd give them all to you. However, all I have are the silent nods of understanding how much it hurts and the screaming thoughts that try to make me believe the ache will soon be eased and the world will again make sense.
Mi hermanita, this is beautiful. I hope she gets to read this..if not, I'll make sure she gets it.

This is so good...sooo good. Sometimes you need to hear words like that echoing exactly how you feel. Thank you. I love it all, but most of all:
They should have written news reports about it. “Lost girl found.” [You found me, little and broken but good, yeah, still good.] You gave me a thousand words disguised as silence or birds, and they danced to the beat of my heart. And they danced to the beat of ‘I love you.’

A perfect title, a perfect opening, a perfect poem; I loved it Stella...filled with so much raw emotion that it hit me hard . I too wish I could somehow comfort a person in need, but alas I do not know you nor the many in need, so I must pretend that I am somehow helping; that me, this little girl, can somehow believe in hope when all else fails and that I can somehow bring others through it all. Go bless in all of your troubles Stella!

As you know, I love this poem. Maybe because you wrote your soul and mine...and so many others all in a few beautiful words.
I wanted to copy and paste the whole poem as my favorite lines into my reply...but instead...i chose the lines that made me ache the most..or nod my head the most in understanding.
You have such a brilliant way with words mi hermana, and they fit you quite perfectly.
I refused to believe, I refused to believe, and I whispered, ‘Je t’aime, te amo, I love you, ich liebe dich,’ like a frantic, malfunctioning machine.
Thank you for sharing.

A wealth of love and pain wrapped in tissue made of tears...Your words belie the angst that is so strongly forced from such a gentle collection...Gem

*sigh* Yes, this piece did come straight from the heart. I'm glad that you could all enjoy it, and I am touched by your replies. Thank you to all who replied... sorry I can't thank each of you individually, but I didn't quite know how for this one, and my brain is full of fog.
Thank you

Mi hermanita, just keep remembering those words and we'll both be fine. Ich liebe dich, I love you, Te amo mi hermanita... Yeah, still good.
Don't worry, it's on a tape, waiting to be sent
Excellent poem, though it sounds a million times better in your voice. Thank you mi hermanita.

Back when I first read this poem,...knowing Stella through friends,..I thought to chuckle,..making fun of her for claiming to be lost.Stella was never far from friends who loved and cared for her in every-way.
Her poems were from her heart. She wrote with more courage than anyone I have ever known. She will be missed greatly. It's so hard for me to tell how I feel. All I can say is that she is safe today and forever more.
God bless and take care.

some would call her "the broken heart that the world forgot." but here, we know she will never be forgotten...never. her talent and spirit are an inspiration long after she has shed her mortal coil...her dreams have given her wings...and she's flown to a place where she's loved. i wasn't blessed to know her...but she touched the life of someone i love. and things are forever altered.
I reply to almost every work that I read, but sometimes-sometimes-like when I don't have much time/mood to log in and/or reply, I postpone it to other day, and the next day I might remember to reply to most of the poems that I read the previous day, but some slip outta my mind. i think that I have skimmed through this poem earlier...and not replied, forgot or what I dunno. Now do you hear me Stella? Hope so.
Lost girl, lost...beautiful..I can't seem to make total sense out of this..but I can feel which I do in full measure.
I would like to say what VoiveOfTheStars wrote: "that me, this little girl, can somehow believe in hope when all else fails and that I can somehow bring others through it all."
Also, I quote what darklinglady wrote: "some would call her "the broken heart that the world forgot." but here, we know she will never be forgotten...never. her talent and spirit are an inspiration long after she has shed her mortal coil...her dreams have given her wings...and she's flown to a place where she's loved. i wasn't blessed to know her...but she touched the life of someone i love. and things are forever altered."
Thanks for bumping sentra
