Posted "A Distant Episode", whose title I stole from one of my favorite short stories of Paul Bowles's.

it's basically nothing but wordplay and imagery; it means nothing to me personally. it's basically a pastiche of crap from my old notebooks. I stole nothing from Bowles except the title and the vague desert image of "mirage". There's a nod to Nietzsche in there; as well as the biblical Joshua, who is in the background, ubiquitously, in my little endeavours at writing. Also banal nods to Hardy and Cervantes. I only say that to explain that I'm aware of them, not that they are true literary allusions or anything.

Tekendis -- thank you. "unzipped" is a nice way of putting it; that's exactly right. and yes, I am a realist, above all, in my perception as communicated in these meagre poems. FF was just teasing me; it's cool.

Rhon -- thanks as well. I've consolidated ALL my poems here.

For one, it keeps ME from losing my poetry; some are older than the general search feature allows for. doing it like this keeps everything in one place. also, i thought maybe it'd help david in a small way, in that it would reduce threads.

I have to say that while it takes time to meander through all your works, it is worth the trip, very worth it. Some sparked great images in my mind and others, well they made me pause and think. Having all your works here is nice in a way, a trip through phases and growth. I must admit I've never given too much time to really digest what some of these poems meant until this evening, I'm really glad I did. I shall look for your posts for now on, you've a way with words that really jump out and hit the reader. A delight to read and ponder.....Gem

The vast amount of work here took a while to get through, but I wanted to read from the beginning right up to your latest additions. You have created an anthology of amazing quality and depth. I was amazed by the consistent excellence of these poems.

To comment on the two newly added pieces...

The picture you paint in Fire Alarm was clear, very truthful. The portraits are almost Chaucerian. You take a situation we've all been in and make it your own.

I will continue to re-read House Tree Person until I can find something even vaguely intelligent to say. Until then, I'll just say I thought twas triffic. Big Grin

As I read I became curious as to just HOW long your post was but I didn't dare look ahead incase I was near the end, I could have kept reading for ever. I was totally wrapped up in your words. Your work is some of the most unique and thought provoking I have ever read and has left my head spinning. I make no suggestions for changes because your work seems to be just that - yours. It IS you and I could never suggest any changes without fully understanding it. I will be back to read new additions and to re-read all the others whenever I have the time.

Added "Apollonian For an Instant", which is new.

Also added a picture and a link to another.

It needs work, but it's more confessional than anything else.

Thank you Gem, Stella, and Kale na kale.

Apollonian For An Instant

This one strikes some pretty deep reactions and that's a great thing.

"She is an
unencumbered statue
tall and blonde
on my balcony
reigning over
bookstack pedestals

Legs that bend horizons
and smooth as marble
she recites Rimbaud
her French is perfect"

The way these lines hit with such sharp, vivid details draw the reader into your perceptions.

I can't love her like
I should because of
the broken whole
and the circle that
cannot close

But then there is another
who cannot love completely
that doesn't stop her
Why should it stop me?

From tasting a form
encasing a mind so classical
under her foot is confirmation:
"By Phideas, I was made"

Your ending verses collide with impact the way one realizes that the nothing is perfect......

I am a blind man to have missed these all this time. I bow in the presence of someone who writes in a style that I respect, even if it is not one thatI wish to emulate. Kudos retardo.
