I have looked at my permissons page in my personal zone and it appears that the administration as unchecked my ability to edit my post.

PD,

The edit option has been removed. Now you can edit for a grace period of approx. 15 mins after you have posted. Any more than that, and you'll get the message that you got, about not having permissions.

This rule was always there in the earlier forums. When QL changed to the eve platform, a lot of the interface changed. We came to know of this discrepancy when EE happened to remove two of her entire posts from a thread in GD even after a day of posting it. We did do something then to avoid this, but I guess it was not enough. We realised this only when Eagleandchild removed his post from the sticky thread. That's when TN stepped in and removed the right to edit with the help of EVE.

At the moment, a grace period of 15 mins exists. If its not working for you, please let us know, so we can approach EVE and sort this problem once and for all.

Thank you.

Is this true of all forums?

I can understand the need for this rule in Debate and GD (as has always been the case and needed so people can't edit after another's reply to change what was said).

I was just wondering if this still applies to the writing or literature forums? If it does, is it possible to extend the length of time one can edit a post (I have in my mind at least 30 minutes because sometimes you forget something or you have a flash of an idea about how something should change etc).

Just a thought.

Yes Aeras,

I think it applies for all forums, because its a universal edit for the whole platform. TN had asked about the grace period, and Airedale had said something to the effect of what you ask. If there are many who think 30 minutes is better as grace period, then it can be brought to TN's notice.

But it may take some time to come into effect. Hope that answers your query.

I am always open to feedback and suggestions.
Thanks for checking in on this.
Thanks, PD, for bringing up the topic, and also to Ananya and Aeras. Smile

Due to reasons that are beyond my control I am unable to get into my yahoo email account for the past three weeks. If anyone here has sent an email to me then I apologize for not beging able to respond. If anyone needs to email me from QL just send me a message via personal topic.

Yahoo has a new requirement that I must enter a new password and provide a mobile phone number so they may text me a message with a new password. I don't own a cell phone because I threw the one that I did own into my lake where it belongs. I will be changing my email in the future. Our pc at home is constipated and stove up with viruses of all varieties. I have been putting off getting it fixed.

Happy Halloween,

Yes, when I'm on favorite quotes, and have posted a quote and then click back on the favorite quoteations at the bottom of the screen I get sent to the Courtyard Marriot ad. Sometimes it won't let me back out and I have to leave the site and then come back on to Quoteland. It's not all the time, but a lot of the time. Anyone else?

Regarding the Courtyard ad, I am having that problem as well (PD and August); although right now, it seems to happen after I hit "logout". I'm getting an ad (or 3 ads on top of each other), usually including the Courtyard Marriott one, that takes up about half a page, and then there's nothing on the bottom half. That's a horrible description, I know, but I don't know how else to explain it. Like August, I had to leave the site and then come back on, because any tab I clicked would show up as the ad.

It doesn't happen all the time, it seems very random....definitely hit-or-miss. Anyway just wanted to throw it in that I'm also experiencing this problem, and not sure what I need to do (if anything??) to fix it.

I think its happening only for the users in US... because the ads on the site change according to the geographic location of the target audience. I am in India so a courtyard Marriott is of no use to me, so it ain't showing on my page at all.

I am saved. Smile

Alternatively I have to see these grotesquely coloured kitsch ads that epitomise India... I bet you dont want to see them either... but they dont seem to be invading my forum space.

Weird though! I'm not sure EVE would do anything about it, unless they are shown that they could be losing members due to this.

Hi Guys

Just to let you know I think Ananya could be right about those ads you are seeing.

I live in the UK and I never see them, so probably only those in the States who do.

Just thought I'd let you know.

Due to technical problems I am unable to access my yahoo email. If anyone here has tried to contact me and have been unsuccessful then at least you will know why. My work email is still working just fine but it is unlisted and not public.

PD,

I have an old yahoo account and I've never heard of yahoo trying to get a phone number in order to send you your password. This may be due to you not remembering your password and trying to reset it, but I have been infrequently logging into mine from time to time with no such requirements (per your 10-14-09 post).

I would reason to bet that what is actually happening is you have a potential virus in your computer that is redirecting your yahoo login to an imposter page where they try to solicit additional information from you. These sites can seem very convincing so it may not be obvious if it is such a site. To be 100% sure, I would email yahoo administrators and tech support from your work email and ask them if such a requirement, such as phone number, is actually required or if this is a phishing scam.

Alternatively they may have changed their protocol but this seems very odd and unlikely to me.

To avoid editing our comments like in your case, you must double check it first before you are finally decided to post it, to avoid difficulties in your part.
