On the first day of Christmas
My true love gave to me
A drunk who drove into a tree
On the second day of Christmas
My true love gave to me
Two shattered skulls
And a drunk who drove into a tree....

Twelve beaten children
Eleven drive-by shootings
Ten frozen homeless
Nine amputations
Eight burn victims
Seven strangled shoppers
Six random knifings
Five suicides
Four beaten wives
Three O.D.'s
Two shattered skulls
And a drunk who drove into a tree.

~ Twelve days of Christmas parody excerpts from Scrubs "My personal jesus" episode.

I guess I am just writing this because I feel like it. I see people...especially young people - people my age and many of them I know without even the littlest faith in a God or something of that sort. I don't really wanna sound idealistic, neither am I going to sing praises of a God (although I do believe in one...) but a little bit of faith is important. If not in a God, then in something which cannot be explained, something which cannot be proved, only felt and still considered not felt, I don't know, I guess it isn't a feeling which can be described in words. Something which kinda feels like a backup to someone like me, when they have had a horrible day (I was working a four hour shift today which did get extended a bit).

Anyway, I guess what I am trying to say is (and yet, I cannot somehow utter the correct words)I wouldn't mind having to feel that something is out there, something I can leave my troubles to, when I do not have energy to think about them anymore. But when a friend asks about it, I would be equally unable to prove it, because they haven't felt it, I have.

Feel free to debate this outta proportion and mock it as you much as you might want to, I just think a little bit of faith is important to complete a person. But then again, that is what just I feel. Probably after a really really horrible day at work.

Merry Christmas everyone.

My little second-cousin said it best over the phone: "Christmas is when we celebrate that Mary gave birth to Santa".

Although my Aunt was quick to 'correct' him I think some of us see a touch of wisdom in his mistake.
Oh well. It's a friendly season - pity it's not the norm.

Peace, love, and Christmas cheer Quoteland, let's see a happier site in 2005!

Matt.

Merry Christmas to all!

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS ~ WOMANS VIEW

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the kitchen;
I was cooking and baking and moanin and bitchin.
I've been here for hours; I can't stop to rest.
This room's a disaster, just look at this mess!

Tomorrow I've got thirty people to feed.
They expect all the trimmings. Who cares what I need!
My feet are both blistered; I've got cramps in my legs.
The cat just knocked over a bowl full of eggs.

There's a knock at the door and the telephones ringing
Frosting drips on the counter as the microwaves dinging.
Two pies in the oven, desserts almost done;
My cookbook is soiled with butter and crumbs.
I've had alI I can stand, I cant take anymore;
Then in walks my husband, spilling rum on the floor.

He weaves and he wobbles, his balance unsteady;
Then grins as he chuckles "The eggnog is ready!"
He looks all around and with total regret,
Says "What's taking so long, aren't you through in here yet ??"

As quick as a flash I reach for a knife;He loses an earlobe; I wanted his life!
He flees from the room in terror and pain
And screams "MY GOD WOMAN, YOU'RE GOING INSANE!!"

Now what was I doing, and what is that smell?
Oh damn, it's the pies!! They're burned all to hell
I hate to admit when I make a mistake,
But I put them on BROIL instead of on BAKE.
What else can go wrong? Is there still more ahead??
If this is good living, I'd rather be dead.

Lord, don't get me wrong; I love holidays;
It just leaves me exhausted, all shaky and dazed.
But I promise you one thing, if I live till next year,
You wont find me pulling my hair out in here.
I'll hire a maid, a cook, and a waiter;
And if that doesn't work, I'LL HAVE IT ALL CATERED!!!

I've been having a white Christmas. I actually attended church services on the Sunday before Christmas. The climax of the holiday was getting some snow. Other than that, I have enjoyed white wine and watching DVD movies for threes days. My holiday has been modest but I am happy that it is over so I can get on with a new year.
