"If anybody ever had a heart, he wouldn't be alone.
He knows she's been here too few years to be gone."
--Matchbox Twenty "Hang" from Yourself or Someone Like You (1996)

"In my eyes you do no wrong,
I've loved you for so long
And after all is said and done,
You're still you."
--Josh Groban "You're Still You" from Josh Groban (2001)

"Honest is easy
Fiction is where genius lies
Cause it’s easier sometimes
Not to be involved
Somehow I make you believe
Believe
When I speak I cross my fingers
Will you know you’ve been deceived?"
--Guster "Demons" from Goldfly (1997)\

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

"I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die."

Johnny Cash, Folsom Prison Blues

By itself, the line seems like an odd choice, but set in the context of the song, it carries great meaning. The narrator of the song is longing to be free of the prison he is in, riding away on the train he hears outside. But, because of what he's done, he knows he can never be free. Violence is pointless, and there will be consequences.

-Leonidas

"Confronted with the choice, the American people would choose the policeman's truncheon over the anarchist's bomb."
-Spiro T. Agnew

"Those who would sacrifice liberty for safety deserve neither."
-Benjamin Franklin

(They're both right.)

I have many favorites, but here's a good one:

"Gonna kick off my shoes and run in bare feet,
where the grass and the dirt and the gravel all meet.
Going back to the well, gonna visit old friends,
gonna feed my soul.......where the blacktop ends."
- Keith Urban

"Cry Havoc! And let slip the dogs of war." - Shakespeare's Julius Caesar

That is a great line/song! When I was younger, my dad used to put on Johnny Cash's songs allll the time, and to this day I still absolutely love them (my favorite being "Orange Blossom Special.") But to stick to the topic...

One of my favorite lines is from "Closing Time" by Semisonic-

"Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end."

I have a few more, but I am pressed for time right now. I'll add later...

Far too many to name! But here are some anyway...

"In a world of steel and death and men who are fighting to be warm, 'Come in' she said 'i'll give you shelter from the storm' "
-Bob Dylan, 'Shelter from the Storm'

"Time is an ocean, but it ends at the shore...you may not see me tomorrow."
-Bob Dylan, 'Oh Sister'

"Mama put my guns int he ground, i can't shoot them anymore. That long black cloud is coming down, feels like i'm knocking on heaven's door..."
-Bob Dylan, 'Knockin' on Heaven's Door' (yes i am a fan, why do you ask?)

"Open windows of passing cars, it's a brand new night but the same old stars."
-Jack Johnson, 'Losing Hope'

"Must we demonstrate that we can't get it straight? We've painted a picture now we're drowning in the paint..."
-Incubus, 'Redefine'

Sorry, that's enough for now....

There's a light in my eyes it's too bright to see
And a pain in my heart where you used to be
Guess I was wrong to assume that you were waiting here for me
There's a light in your eyes
Did you leave that light burning for me
