Here is a link to a Facebook page for the 2010 California Governor race. If anyone could join I would appreciate it.

There are only two weird picture on the site, and below, of Gavin Newsom.

I feel so sorry for the people of our state.

Poor Prejean. She ought to remember that the story of Ham pretty much rules out interracial marriage as well if she goes back 50 years in US theology. Of course, if there're two things religions are not: Realistic. Coherent.

Still, no reason to fire her from a contest. I certainly hope she didn't lose out over her religion, but using her religion as a front for bigotry and discrimination can't have helped her chances.

She should have stuck with something serious and non-controversial. Like how many angels can dance on a pin-head, or whether God can move big rocks.

Thanks for thinking of me Phantom.

Fuzzies,

Don't paint too broad a stroke. I think you mean, "if she goes back 50 years in the US to bad teaching by a percentage of religious organizations."

Remember using views as a front for bigotry and discrimination works both ways.

Without commenting too much on the immaturity of your veiled jab at religion, with the angels and rocks comment, kudos for her not being politically correct and brave enough to talk on something she cares about.

Just watched the movie Bush's Brain - Who's Really Running the Country? It’s a story about Carl Rove.

It also reinforced my earlier thoughts on what a huge, devastating, disgusting, disaster George W Bush's presidency was for the United States of America. It made me sick to my stomach! Amazing the trail of destroyed lives of men and women serving their country. All from this man and his political machine.

Unbelievable!

Sick! Sick! Sick! I highly recommend it!

This might be one of my favorite Quoteland quotes right here.

On Thursday, September 3rd, as I was driving up the lake road on my ATV I saw something running across the road (from left to right) on the lower side of the gate. It just appeared out of nowhere. The form was not fully visible but just for a couple of seconds. It looked like a small boy that was running. It crossed the road and ran past the site where the old shed was removed. It leaped into the air to jump over an old fence and vanished or became invisible as instantly as it appeared. WOW, I thought. This happened approximately at the same time as the previous sighting (around 4:00 p.m.) My dog was trailing me at a half trot about twenty yards behind me but she appeared not to see it.

This image appeared to be a young boy about the age of nine. He had dark hair that was cut in a bowl style hair cut. He appeared to be wearing shorts and white socks and dark low cut shoes. His shirt was tattered and very drab in color. He was nimble and quick to say the least.

Well I am posting for no specific reason except to say that I am not in cahoots with anyone here at QL. Nope, I am not in cahoots. I am IN-DEE-PEN-DENT! Other than that I am having a decent “cabbage leaf” day.

For breakfast I had wild boar sausage patties with cat’s head biscuits, scrambled eggs with hominy, black “Columbian" coffee, ice water and a vitamin C tablet. After breakfast I shifted through yesterday’s mail to find my bi-monthly paycheck. I thought about how lucky I am to have a paycheck when so many people are suffering from unemployment and financial duress.

During lunch I went to the bank to cash my bi-monthly paycheck and make deposits. I walked out of the bank feeling like a man worth $2,000.00. For lunch I went to McKenzie’s (a local grocery and deli). I ordered a ham and cheese sandwich on white bread with sliced tomato, lettuce, onion and mayonnaise. The pretty woman wrapped my sandwich in wax paper and then stuck it in a brown paper bag. I also purchased a 20-ounce cup of iced tea and some Frito corn chips.

After I get home from work I aim to grill some wild boar pork chops on our barbeque grill. Yep, I had pork for breakfast, pork at noon and there will be pork when the sun goes down!

SCHOOOOL'S ... OUT ... FOR ... SUMMER
SCHOOOOL'S ... OUT ... FOR ... EVER!

Just had to get that out of my system. Smile

Today was my last day of high school. I don't know whether to cheer or cry, so I'm doing both.

Congratulations, Rala!! That's so exciting and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

On a similar note, can you (or EE/anyone who lives in/near Australia/sees this first) explain what your school calendar is like? What months you are (were Smile) in school? I guess it is summer where you are? We've just hit fall and in appx. 2 months it will be winter here. School is open from September (sometimes August, for colleges) to May or June in the US. I'm always fascinated by things like this.

I'm happy to see Letswritenshare posted in a different thread. Lets, if you see this, I hope all is well with you and you'll LET Wink us know what's new when you get a chance.

Lastly, I'm going on a "date" tonite...I'm not really looking forward to it. Maybe I should be? But I feel more like I'm just doing it to please the people who have been pushing for it to happen. I hate that. I hope it goes by quickly. Roll Eyes

I hope everyone here has been well!! Smile

It's not quite summer yet, we've got about a month to go. It seemed as though the weather was unaware of this over the past week, but today it's been raining, so I'm hoping for a few more weeks of relatively cool days. As for school, it usually goes something like this...

January (summer): Holidays.
February (summer): School begins. This year it was on the 2nd for me, a couple of days earlier for other states.
March (autumn): School.
April (autumn): Two weeks of holidays around Easter.
May (autumn): School.
June (winter): School.
July (winter): Two weeks of holidays near the beginning. This sometimes happens in the end of June instead.
August (winter): School.
September (spring): School. Two weeks of holidays near the end, or in the beginning of October.
October (spring): School ends for the Year 12s (i.e. 17 yr olds/ students in their last year), continues for other students.
November (spring): TEEs (Tertiary Entrance Exams) take place for the Year 12s in the first two weeks. School for the others.
December (summer): Holidays.

The American/English school calenders were a source of great confusion for me when I was younger and reading books set in those countries. I couldn't figure out which grade corresponded to which age. It's only recently that I've got my head around the fact that other countries have school years that don't correspond quite as neatly with the actual year.

I hope your date wasn't too painful.

WEll I'm posting for no reason except Thanksgiving holiday is just around the corner.

------------------------------

Let us butter up the butterball and stuff it full of dressing.

We can bake it in the oven while the leaves are lightly falling.

There a bottle full of chardonnay that’s a-chilling in the cooler.

There’s a pan of cornbread dressing that is ready for the oven.

A pumpkin pie is cooling and a morning breeze is blowing.

I am dressed in my best hunting clothes and ready to go hunting.

I’ll think about that butterball throughout this autumn morning.

Those two big juicy breasts are so succulent and tempting.

And those plump fleshy drumsticks are delicious to the senses.

I am thankful for all the venison that is stored within our freezer.

I am grateful for all the food that is stored within our cupboard.

But most of all that butterball is the best of all my blessings.

Phantom Delta, 2007
