What I would like to know is ... Are there any board game enthusiasts on Quoteland? What are your five most favourite board games of the world?

Mine are:

Scrabble: This basic word game is my absolute favourite, but I like a convulated version of it that does not require a board to play which my friend calls SQUABBLE. This is super fun... with lots of opportunity to fight among friends. Big Grin

Pictionary: Simply because it gives me opportunity to draw silly things.

Cleopatra and the Society of Architects: Because I like to build.

Brainvita: I've yet to crack the single marble board.

Othello: For its simplicity in Strategy.

Oh, I love board games. Great idea.
I like Scrabble and haven't heard of Brainvita. I'll check it out.
There are loads of games I like, some aren't board games though. I might have included Boggle, Scene It, Trivial Pursuit, Cluedo and Taboo.
But the best might include:

Chess: because it's the purest board game.

Backgammon: because each game can be quick . There's luck and skill.

Monopoly: because I grew up with it.

Risk: also because I grew up with it, but I'll still play it with my kids when I can persuade them!

Diplomacy: which has no dice but is a game of double cross and alliance. Haven't played it for years, probably because each game takes forever. Need a lot of time, food and drink!

Board Games: Avalon Hill’s Panzer Blitz, and Squad Leader, SPI’s Napoleon at Waterloo. Cry Havoc, and Siege by Standard Games and Publications, Ltd. (None of which I’ve played in years. Everyone wants to play card games these days)

Backgammon: Skill, strategy

Chess: Patience, strategy

My favourite board game ever is Absolute Balderdash. I've been crowned the Balderdash champion of my family, English class, church and youth group. It's partly because of my fondness for obscure words and other pieces of trivia, and partly because of my talent for bull*****ing. I also like Scrabble, Cluedo, Checkers and Monopoly.

Strangely, though, I've just never gotten chess. A few friends have tried to teach me, but it didn't stick.

After the nukes hit I'll bet I can find someone that wants to play board games. I had donated ALL of our board games to charity after Hurricane Katrina blew New Oreleans off the map in 2005. Last winter I bought a box of board games that has checkers, chess and bad gammon all on one board. I don't even know how to play bad gammon.

I guess after the nukes hit we can play Russian Roulette.
