... mentioned by Ananya in her latest book review in the Lit Forum sounded interesting enough to answer, and I thought others might like the challenge as well.
IF you found out you DID have a guardian angel, what would you name it?
Biblically, angels are usually invisible, but when they do appear to human vision, it's as human male persons (never as females nor as cute cherubic babies nor "its"). I'd probably name him something like Mr. Patience (he'd need it if he had to guard me).
IF you were to name the emotion that you waste the most time on, what would it be?
Worrywart.
IF you were to list three things that you would most like to reform in your religion, what would they be?
I am not a devotee of a "religion" but a follower of a Person, Jesus; if anything, I'd be naming 3 ways *I* need to practice living more like Yeshua.
IF you had to control the destiny of any one person, who would it be?
Yuck! I'm not nearly wise enough to control any person and it would be a terrible burden (which, ironically, doesn't stop me from acting bossy on occasion, however).
IF you decided today to do some serious soul searching, what would be the first question you'd ask yourself?
"Why do you believe what you believe?"
------------------------------ The opposite of joy is not sorrow. It is unbelief. ~ Leslie Weatherhead Picture me with my ground teeth stalking joy--fully armed too, as it's a highly dangerous quest. ~ Flannery O'Connor
If you found out you DID have a guardian angel, what would you name it?
I do have a guardian angel. I call him Jericho.
IF you were to name the emotion that you waste the most time on, what would it be?
Thor, the Norse God of Thunder
IF you were to list three things that you would most like to reform in your religion, what would they be? 1) I would insist that Baptism by emersion would be required in the Presbyterian denomination of Protestant Christianity. 2) I would require all members to read the entire Bible within a specified period of time. 3) I would insist that Saturday should be regarded as the Sabbath as it was originally honored in the era in which the Bible was written. (Changing the Sabbath to a Sunday was done by the Holy Catholic Church.)
IF you had to control the destiny of any one person, who would it be?
My own destiny!
IF you decided today to do some serious soul searching, what would be the first question you'd ask yourself?
What is the highest priority in my life?

IF you found out you DID have a guardian angel, what would you name it?
In a way I do rely on the arch-angel 'Michael' already. A brave, warrior angel keeping the devil at bay so I can let my defenses down sometimes.
IF you were to name the emotion that you waste the most time on, what would it be?
Grief. Time of life for me I suppose. Having to let go of girlish dreams and hopes is a natural process but it's heartwrenching and grief filled.
IF you were to list three things that you would most like to reform in your religion, what would they be?
I like being Catholic and feel at home with Catholic mystical tradition. I personally feel uncomfortable with material lavishness that the Catholic church is sometimes criticised for.
2. I would like to see a return of traditional convents and traditional nuns. When things got confused, the baby was thrown out with the bathwater and the absence of ordained sisterhood in Catholic community is now very dibilitating.
IF you had to control the destiny of any one person, who would it be?
It would be my middle sons, who is ironically named 'Michael'. He is his own worst enemy and no one can tell him. He is full of fight and confidence and fun and massive potential, but at 17 he thinks he is just going to be able to bulldoze his life to where he wants to go. He needs to be attached to a set of reins.
IF you decided today to do some serious soul searching, what would be the first question you'd ask yourself?
Seriously.... is 'love' all that important to a worthwhile life. I've become aware of just how many people die without ever having experienced love. Unconditional love from signicant others. It's just a fact of life that not everyone will know love for whatever reason. I sometimes feel we lead people astray by having this universal focus on 'love' instead of focusing on more comforting and empowering things like faith in God and being of service to others needs.

Guilt. That and shame. It hold you back for so many fun things in life.

That many ha? My religion is perfect ... go fix your. To all the religion nutbags out there, be less hypocritical and more logical.

God. He seems to control all destiny (according to more religion nutbags).

I should care more about my ego. Seriously how many people die without much ego or having experience ego? But again, when I meet some people like that, it made me feel better about myself.

IF you found out you DID have a guardian angel, what would you name it? I know I have one. She is female, and the name came to me floating on the wings of cool wind - MAANAA
IF you were to name the emotion that you waste the most time on, what would it be? too much thinking
IF you were to list three things that you would most like to reform in your religion, what would they be? 1. Out-casteism - In one of our sacred temples in Orissa, foreigners (people who are not Hindu) are not allowed to enter the temple. This should change. Let God decide whom he wants to have in his home, who are we to decide for her? 2. Fanaticism 3. Sectarianism between the different Sects of polytheistic worship, and the hate it cultivates between those with the same goal.
But when I think of it, all three are rules not of the religion, but of the organised religion so-to-speak.
IF you had to control the destiny of any one person, who would it be? My mother's. I would want her to stay with me forever and ever and leave the planet together. ...that's so selfish of me, i know... but can't figure this world without my Aai (mum) in it.
IF you decided today to do some serious soul searching, what would be the first question you'd ask yourself? When will my spiritual master let me see her lotus feet in physical reality? What I would give to be able to do that... have not seen them for two whole years now.
IF you could learn one thing (but only one thing) about your own death right now, what would you want it to be? IF you were asked what your "mind, body and soul" mean in your own life, what would you say? IF you could be the Devil for a day, what would you do? IF you had to name the most spiritual building you have entered, which would you choose? IF you had to learn about every sin one person you know has committed or will ever commit, who would you choose? -- 5 more of my most favourite "DIFFICULT to answer questions"

IF you found out you DID have a guardian angel, what would you name it? I assume he'd already have a name. I wouldn't want to try and give him another one.
IF you were to name the emotion that you waste the most time on, what would it be? Self-doubt/pity
IF you were to list three things that you would most like to reform in your religion, what would they be? I'd like to... -Bring more passion into church services -Encourage Christians (especially myself) to be less materialistic and more generous -Increase the sense of community and brotherly love among believers
IF you had to control the destiny of any one person, who would it be? A friend of the family who used to hang out a lot with my little brother. He's the sweetest kid deep down but he's acting like an idiot - getting into fights, screwing up in school, alienating his friends, losing control at the slightest provocation. I don't know how well I could handle being responsible for his destiny, but at this point in time I honestly think I could do a much better job of running his life than he can. I worry about him, and there doesn't seem to be much anyone can do to help.
IF you decided today to do some serious soul searching, what would be the first question you'd ask yourself? What do you really want to do with your life?
And I can't resist answering some of the other questions at the end of Ananya's last post. IF you could learn one thing (but only one thing) about your own death right now, what would you want it to be? I'd want to know who was with me.
IF you had to name the most spiritual building you have entered, which would you choose? A Franciscan monastery I visited two years ago on a trip through Italy.
IF you had to learn about every sin one person you know has committed or will ever commit, who would you choose? A girl I go to church with. She's always seemed perfect to me - beautiful, talented, popular, one of the nicest people you could ever meet. I'm not proud of this, but it drives me nuts. I think that knowledge of the ways she isn't perfect would make it much easier for me to be friends with her. Because I really do like her when I'm not too busy making comparisons between us.

Mr. Bubbles. I'd have to.

Self-doubt.

Lack of more than one person adhering to it. Lack of any kind of actual guidance. Lack of any solid, formal beliefs.
Not sure if I'd actually want to change any of that though.
quote:
IF you had to control the destiny of any one person, who would it be?
Not big into control. Not my business.
quote:
IF you decided today to do some serious soul searching, what would be the first question you'd ask yourself?
"Why do you think that reality doesn't apply to you?
quote:
IF you could learn one thing (but only one thing) about your own death right now, what would you want it to be?
If I am conscious. Or, actually, maybe I wouldn't want to know. I would be pretty seriously bummed about my death if I knew I wouldn't really get to experience it.

IF you had to name the most spiritual building you have entered, which would you choose?
Any building, really. I visited a church high in the mountains in Bolivia once. For all its pomp, I found it no holier than the very room I'm in right now, though much prettier. I find buildings are nothing compared to just about anywhere where there are no buildings in terms of spirituality, anyway.

IF you had to learn about every sin one person you know has committed or will ever commit, who would you choose?
Man, I don't really care to know these things, but if I HAD to, I suppose my father, just because it would be interesting. He had quite an adolescence. Besides, we're very much the same person; the greater understanding of him that would bring would likely lead to a greater understanding of myself.

1. IF you found out you DID have a guardian angel, what would you name it?
I'm lucky to have, in life, my maternal grandmother as my guardian angel. Her name means "completion" which I think suits her well... she's a complete package!!!
2. IF you were to name the emotion that you waste the most time on, what would it be?
Worrwart (are we allowed to steal, teacher? ) yet Hopeward.
3. IF you were to list three things that you would most like to reform in your religion, what would they be?
(Hinduism) scatterism, superstition. That's two but that's about it.
4. IF you had to control the destiny of any one person, who would it be?
Myself. But through my deeds not something else. That's the biggest challenge, right?

Have I started being what I want to be?
