Hi, I just noticed this thread was here while wandering around QL... have you guys realized how easy it is to get happily lost in this place? I could spend forever! I'm Mel (short for Melanie), I live in Anchorage, Alaska, still stuck in high school but I love all things related to languages (English or foreign) & history, and of course quotations. Why else would I be here? Most of all I'm a poet / writer. And, if you can't tell from my username and signature, a Poe fanatic! * * * * * “Was it not Fate (whose name is also Sorrow), That bade me pause before that garden-gate, To breathe the incense of those slumbering roses?” –Edgar Allan Poe, To Helen

Hello My name is Julie and I live in Houston, TX (originally from Southern California) Ummm I am really bad at spelling and I love to read. I came to quoteland a couple days ago in search of works some quotes came from (it seems everyone will let you know who wrote what, but they don't tell you what work it came from) Anyways, while I am here I have a question, how do I get my little picture icon to show up? I changed it and submitted it, and nothing. Anywho, I guess that is all for now (oh and I talk a lot if you haven't noticed =) Thanks, Julie

Hi! I have posted to several threads without introducing myself. I apologize for the oversight. I posted a link to my homepage on the "pictures of us" thread. I am a very happy stay-at-home mama of four daughters (12,10,8 and 7). While I am an engineer by degree, I enjoy language(s). As the girls are getting older I am enjoying the renewed opportunity to read, think and write. My heart for our daughters is that they would all be lifelong learners... hence my signature line. I am thankful for the thoughtful community here. -k That which doesn't grow dies.

I hope I'm doing this right. I'm very new at this- I've been on for just about an hour. This site is very, very nice! I'm trying to teach myself how to do even the basics. I did read the ummm... you know the rules so that helped a lot. I posted a thing on the... forum?... for people to answer my question but I think I did it wrong. Just cause I was supposed to make my "title" unique and short but it was more of a long cry for help. Sorry, I posted that before I read the rules. Nobody's looked at it yet though . Well, this place seems like fun. I probably will do more looking around and reading than posting at first but hopefully later I'll be more broken in and comfortable. Thanks everyone!

Hey hunbunny, and welcome! Don't worry about the title, I think it's fine. You simply posted your request in the wrong forum. Let me go look up the right link for you and I'll post it in your topic for you. And don't worry, you'll get the hang of things soon! ------------------------- "Know then thyself, presume not God to scan/The proper study of mankind is man." ~ from Alexander Pope's Essay on Man

Hello all,
I registered on this site a few years ago and am returning for a little while to enjoy the pleasure of your company!
My name is Liz, I'm 18, and I play the cello. I love to read and write poetry and essays, and to get to know interesting and smart people, which is why this site and its participants attracted me.
My favorite literary figures include the Bronte sisters, (especially Charlotte,) Shakespeare, Pablo Neruda, Emiliy Dickenson, W.B. Yeats, my dad...Favorite cellist: Jacqueline du Pre. Favorite composers for the cello: Faure, Dvorak, Haydn, Elgar!
I plan to continue cello and English in college to become a teacher, perhaps even a writer.
Me ke aloha, Liz.
