Ohsteve, that is a very considerate thought and natural question on your part ohsteve, and I swear it is not just because of your starting this topic that I say this – whenever I enter the writers' forums and see your uplifting, honest comments to many different works and helpful suggestions in the Workshop, I respect you all the more! Several members have left QL or have been made to leave recently, which is why the traffic is lesser and interest lower. However that's no excuse for those of us that are choosing to stay to become lax, like I too have (for no particular reason... part busy-ness part lazy-ness I s'pose ). Thank you for the reminder, in a couple of days I'd be more regular. More than that, thank you for all your contributions!! [And I find your poetry cool, oh, Steve .] ---- " It's a damn cold night Trying to figure out this life, (...) I don't know who you are but I... I'm with you." ~Avril Lavigne, I'm with you [found here]

Katelyn's explanation is a good one I think. When I read something, I generally don't respond to it unless I've got something to add to what's there. I can understand that it's good manners etc to leave a reply when you read something, but on the other hand, a hundred posts all saying "nice work" etc can swamp more "useful" replies. Most folks at QL seem to settle on a "less is more" approach when it comes to posting. In the longer term, this results in less "quantity", but greater "quality" of material on the site...
The fact that your posts are being read (irrespective of the number of comments) should itself be seen as informative and complementary. Your reputation here is growing. With a lot of stuff to choose from, people see your nick, and choose to read your work...
The way I figure it, if my stuff is being read, then I'm happy. If I also get thoughtful comments, it's icing on the cake.

Although a thread may be viewed many times, some of those views may be by the same person. I've viewed this thread four times now.
In the workshop, I view each thread when it is first posted, and after each new reply, though if I have nothing to say, or if I feel the members are doing well enough on their own, I don't reply.
I see no point in posting if I have nothing worthly of adding (Okay, that's not true in GD, but it is elsewhere). I can say I have read your poems, and most of the works posted on QL, but I've replied to very few for many reason. It's not hard, but it takes time, and we have to be logged in. I don't log on at work/school/on any computer that's not mine, unless something needs my attention, although I often I read post at work/school/ect.
In addition, since I cannot spell, I need to have Word open when I post, and I'm not always able to have Word open. It take longer for me to reply to a post than it does to read the post most of the time.
"I'm telling you. People come and go in this Forest, and they say, 'It's only Eeyore, so it doesn't count.' They walk to and fro saying, 'Ha ha!' But do they know anything about A? They don't. It's just three sticks to them. But to the Educated - mark this, little Piglet- to the Educated, not meaning Poohs and Piglets, it's a great and glorious A."--Eeyore, The House at Pooh Corner

I don't think you would want everyone..or half of everyone the views your topic to post a reply, otherwise you would have several useless replies. Like this one. But I guess it's what you're asking for.

Remind me not to ever act this way again. This is you trying hard to make sure that you're seen with the girl on your arm and your heart on your sleeve. Remind me not to ever think of you again"-Taking Back Sunday
