Download Google Earth

I know there are forums dedicated to this sort of thing, but I thought I have to share my love for one of the more beautiful programs available on the internet.

Some of my 'favourite GE places':

Perhaps Ananya can help me with the names here, but I found these beautiful fjord-like islands on the north west coast of India.

Also, the more well known Mt St Helens blow-out:

Africa is always a mammoth place to explore. I find this one interesting because of its distinctive reminiscance of the branch of Mexico...only, it's on the Northwestern cap of Africa.

For those unaware of Google Earth (as if you would be), I seriously recommend it's download. It is a wonderful way to pass the time, and can be very educational. All I have done is roamed around until I've found somewhere picturesque or otherwise, gotten a screen grab (pressing the PrintScreen/PrtScn-button on your keyboard, then 'pasting' into Microsoft Paint), uploading it to Photobucket, and sharing here. The bookmarks are for those that have Google Earth - download them to zoom instantly to the places I've 'been to'. I've used a free hosting service to store the bookmarks, and should you want to share yours, I'd recommend something like Mediafire. To save bookmarks in Google Earth, simply zoom to a place you like, and click the 'bookmark' icon on the bottom of the screen. Name it as you want, then right click on the bookmark in the 'Places' menu, save it as a file in a specific place on your harddrive, then upload it to your file share, and share it with the rest of us on QL Big Grin Big Grin .

Just another way to explore our little planet, eh? (Hope that wasnt too much free advertising for Google and the other two sites Erm...).

So go ahead and share some of your secret hiding places Big Grin Big Grin. Happy Hunting!

My most favourite and the world's most inaccessible hiding hole - the great himalayas, as I shot them from the airplane, while I travelled to Ladakh (in Kashmir, India) Smile I don't think any mountaineer has gone or has been allowed to go in these extreme interiors of the himalayan ranges. Thats probably the main reason for their pristine beauty.

I've often used Google Earth to look at homes that I was interested in buying, to see the surroundings etc. Here is one of my hometown in Michigan. I live right on the big lake.

Finding your place via the GPS numbers was slightly time consuming, but felt worth it in the end. Razz.

Sentrawoods - By the lake

I'll just do these bookmarks, then...shall I? Wink

Now, is this going to work?

Wow, it does. I think I need a little practice.

BoH, I like what you did with Sentra's house.
How did you do that?
Get Curious!

Initial estimates put the cost of the Scottish Parliament building at £50million.
Final cost....£414million!

Interesting design though.

Whoa!!! Eek (at the Scottish Parliament)...

...Asa, when in GE, I press F11 to put it on fullscreen, then take the screen grab. Looks purdy Razz.

Asa: Scottish Parliament

I can just keep dutifully doing the bookmarks for everyone else, seeing as I like the exploration Smile. To do a bookmark in GE, there's a little pin-tack button you click, then name, then drag to save a location for you to check out later. You can also 'save as' in a folder as a file to send over messengers and email, or, as I'm doing, putting them on a host for your download.

And to Sentra: Heh. Dont push me Razz. The bookmark was just where you took the screen grab. How am I to know where your house exactly is? LOL

Los Angeles City on Google Earth was used in this Terminator Poster. Apparently LA is formed in the shape of a Skull. Very eerie, if you ask me.
