I'm happy pretty fish isn't dead...yet...added air stone (it's not staying for long...I'll use a power head or another filter), got temp gauge, ph is fine, nitrates are 20...so what's my prob? I doubt it's temp, since my mom keeps the same fish in her pond...in south la...if they can live through la summer.

Check my myspace page for a pic of the pretty fishes... and of my kitty...you gotta love those blue eyes...

My kitty at the vet...I'll be happy when he's home (tomorrow morning).

AND! Husband who has only been looking for work for a few weeks got a call from the university down the highway, wanting him to teach. Smile He's teaching at Tech in the fall, but just one class...it would be so cool if he can teach (it's what he wants to do), till he can get a real job (no offence Kate or Doon, but he can make way, way more money at a different job...and right now, money would be good. we need a house, and I want a bigger tank and a different car...and the cute doggie I saw at the pet store.) I’m of course till jobless and no has emailed or call from any of sites I've posted on. Frown

I have new contacts Big Grin

I've had a trial pair for the past couple weeks, but my actual prescription came in today. Which means I can see AND I don't have the four-year old outdated pair of glasses anymore. Although, I'm so used to pushing my glasses up my nose (cool, aren't I? Razz), that now I keep going to do it out of habit and poke myself in the face... Roll Eyes But I'm sure I'll stop doing that as I get used to 'em, so yay! Smile

Yea for being able to see! I can't wait to be able to see again. My glasses are from before grad school, grad school killed my eyes. I never wear them though.

Kitty's home! but he keeps hiding, moving from one spot to next, I just let him in my closet...

Fish aren't dead...yet, I've lowered the temp...no clue what else would be wrong, unless it's something I can't see or test for.

Kate, I am so glad you are able to see.

EEyore, I am so glad that the fishies are hanging in there.

I am off to work and today we are having a food day. I am so happy because I get to test my strength and see if I can remain true to my WW. I made a huge salad, so at least if no one else wants it, I will have plenty to eat. I am also very happy because my computer was all screwed up yesterday and when I woke up this mornint my boyfriend has it all fixed, and it even seems faster. I really need to buy more RAM very soon.

I am off to work, everyone have a nice day!

From my mom I got all Kay Hooper and Stephen Frey. I think I’ve read most of Kay Hooper’s, not sure about Stephen Frey’s. I just returned all Stephen White books.

Thursday, a friend lent me Beauty and the Beast, The Hero and the Crown, The Blue Sword (McKinley), The Golden Compass (Pullman), The Crystal Cave, The Hollow Hills and The Last Enchantment (Mary Stewart). Not sure of the author of Beauty and the Beast, it’s in my purse. I’m enjoying it. I was desperate for books…I had an urge to read Moby Dick with PD said he was reading it and I wanted to read Paradise Lost. My friend saw the perfect chance to get me to read something new…The penguin books were looking good at Books-a-Million. I knew I’d one day regret selling back my books and anthologies.

I asked for Mary Shelly’s (sp) Frankenstein. I have a list of ‘books to someday read when I have time’ I figured since I have the time, I should get started. Frankenstein is on that list.

You should post your reviews of the books in the lit forum, I love to hear about new books Smile

And definitely let me know what you think of Shelley's Frankenstein when you read it. My professors always complain that the writing style is too simple, but come on now. She was what, 17 when she wrote it? And the story is just wonderful...

Hehe, and I have almost stopped selling back my books at this point, unless there is a novel I really don't care for. Hence I am poor and am running out of space on the bookcase. But happy Big Grin You should look out for book sales at libraries and what not, you can get a lot of good ones for next to nothing!

I kept all my books till I graduated and was finished with my comps, then I throw a fit and sold back everything the school would buy back, sadly (spend the money on our cruise).

I shall post reviews in lit forum. I think I have in the past on some I've written, but since graduation I haven't read anything from the 'canon.'

What type of books do you like? Mystery and suspense are mostly what I read, but I need to find something new, hence be borrowing books.

Beauty and Beast is simple...but very enjoyable.

I only have room on my bookcase because I borrow most of my books from my mom, my dad built wall-to-wall selves in my room at their house, the other room has two large bookcases as well. And the antic and under my bed has tons of books...

Edit: Laugh I found my American Lit books, they are three books in one those boxes type things, which is why I didn't seem them. Yeah!

I like all kinds of books! Anything funny or novel, whatever genre or era it comes from (love Douglass Adams and Terry Pratchett); I used to love horror growing up, but now I'm too wimpy to read anything scary when I'm by myself; I still love science fiction and some fantasy, even though it isn't considered the height of literary talent (Lord of the Rings, the Death Gate Cycle, The Discworld Novels, etc.). I also have a couple of Anne Rice's vampire novels (Interview with the Vampire is wonderful, and actually somewhat philosophical for a vampire story).

But I also go for the classics, since most of them tend to reflect on some aspect of what it is to be human or to face and overcome adversity. Especially books that deal with social issues that are studied and critiqued, since I want to draw attention to racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. when I am teaching...

I've got Ray Bradbury, George Orwell, Joseph Heller, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Jane Austen (not one of my favorites, but eh), Oscar Wilde, Elie Wiesel, Joesph Conrad, Alice Walker, Toni Morrison, Zora Neale Hurston, some plays by Shakespeare, a few literary anthologies...well, I could go on forever, but I have a bunch of stuff Smile

So, erm...now that I've gone on forever, to answer your question: I'd read just about anything if someone gave me a good enough reason to. I usually haunt the literature and sci-fi sections of the bookstore, though Wink

I've thrown Austen across the room, three times I believe, I think I read Hurston (can't think of what though, is she American?), but none of the others...For some reason, I don't think I've read Anne Rice...I tend to read what my mom reads, since that means free books.

I happy I get to enjoy reading.

Hurston is indeed American, more associated with African American literature, though. Maybe you read Their Eyes Were Watching God? That's the one on my bookcase at present, anyhow...

No, though the first two chapters are in the African Am. anthology (which I've never read, just used it to update page numbers and webpage for a prof. and she gave me a copy) It's going to bug me...I even know which prof taught the class, though not sure which class it was...(took a few from the same guy). I did a basic search, but I don't see it...I think I would know the title if I saw it...oh well, it'll come to me at some random time.

I'm happy it's going to be low to mid 80's this week, of course it's going to be raining all week, which means the kids will be stuck inside, but at least it won't be hot.

I got a new x-box game! And I'm off Friday and Monday, guess what I'll be doing?

Hope, have fun with the parties, congrats on finishing the year.

Beat the xbox game, so glad I didn't pay for it...stupid easy, beat it in two nights.

Going to MIL! They're out of town for two weeks, I've three bags of laundry (heat up thier place not ours!) and books pack, along with swim suit. They have super cold ac, a pool, two hot water heaters, plus big worlpool bathtub, and a gazillion tv channels. Hotel Mom is open! (that's what husband calls it.)

I had a good day Smile

I had my internet reconnected, which was nice; you never realize how dependent you are on technology until you can't check your email. And when I was able to check my email again, I found an email waiting for me from a friend I haven't spoken to in over a year! So yay for that!

A friend of mine also came out to visit me today, which was nice since I haven't seen her all semester. We had a nice dinner and talked about all sorts of things, caught up on each other's lives, reminisced about high school, etc. Hehe, we used to write these silly stories in high school...which I won't get into. But we talked about writing a final one for old time's sake which I think would be nice.

So yes, today was lovely Smile
