Hey guys I'm in the process of writing a book and one part of it is the main character Jessica reads her deceased mother's journals and inside each one is a famous inspirational quote about life, love etc which was written by Jessica's grandmother Lisa. So anybody got any? Thanks

Well if the book that you are writing is fiction then you can just make up the quotes. If the book is not fiction then you can simply use the quotes in the journal.

You can find a world of quotes about life and love in the search engine.

The following quotes are from a compilation titled as,
Irish Cures, Mystic Charms & Supersitions,
By Lady Wilde
(They are general [Irish] sayings that are not attributed to any one author.)

True greatness knows gentleness.

When wrathful words arise a closed mouth is soothing.

Have a mouth of ivy and a heart of holly.

It is difficult to sooth the proud.

A little friendship is better than much friendship.

Gentleness is better than haughtiness.

No sorrow like the loss of friends.

Face the sun but turn your back on the storm.

Conversation is the cure for every sorrow.

Even contention is better than loneliness.

A heavy purse makes for a light heart.

Autumn days come quickly like the running of a hound upon the moor.

Winter comes fast on the lazy.

Have sense, patience, and self restraint, and mischief will not come.

Falling is easier than rising.

Cleverness is better than strength.

Virtue is everlasting wealth.

Wisdom excels all riches.

Good begets goodness, and bad badness. Money begets money and wealth friendship.

Misfortune follows fortune inch by inch.

Good luck is better than early rising.

It is better to be lucky than wise.

A misty winter brings a pleasant spring--A pleasant winter a misty spring.

There is wisdom in the raven’s head.

(If I could write 24 karat words then I would be famous.) Nevertheless, you may use these if they suit your fancy. They are as fresh as the scent of a newly mown mead. Roll Eyes

A portrait of happiness is best accentuated in hues of blue, blue skies, blue seas and blue eyes.

Love can be as sweet as summer’s mountain honey.

A life without love is like a bird without a song or a flower without nectar.

I am in agreement with PD on his advice here, speaking as an author, I would also ask you to bear in mind if you use real quotations, remember to attribute them to their original source, you may also have copyright issues - so be careful.

If the book is a work of fiction, as PD said you can make your own up, as if having been said by the grandmother.

From the tone of your question, this sounds like a first book for you.

I don't want to get to the end of my life and find that I lived just the length of it. I want to have lived the width of it as well.
- Diane Ackerman, quoted in "Newsweek"
