Usernames have grown increasingly long in recent months. Long usernames are distracting, difficult to retype, and in some cases distort the appearance of the forum itself.
Effective immediately, usernames may not contain more than fifteen characters. No more than two of these characters may be non-alphanumeric. Alphanumeric characters include numbers, capital letters and small letters. Spaces are considered non-alphanumeric.
Users who created their usernames before 3 August 2003 have two weeks to bring their usernames into compliance. After 17 August 2003, the moderators will assign a shorter username.
The constitution has been amended to reflect this change. Additionally, the constitution was amended to contain changes effected 14 July 2003.
hey...no worries ...you can just change yourself to LWAS...people will still know its you...or letswritenshare...
Without pain, we would not experience love. Without silence, we could not appreciate our words. Without weakness, our strength would be obsolete. Without tears, our laughter would never be heard. Although we may all face hardships in our life, We must remember that serenity is born through strife. ~Rachel Lowery~

I think LWAS' present username is allright isn't it? It's 15 characters long!!
Aww I hope you find an appropriate, shorter username Fuzzies!

Oh, THAT’S why I couldn’t log in! My name was changed, lol. But- Why is my name shortened already???? I thought that was after 17 Aug., I was gonna discuss my new name with mods., I didn’t want letswrite&share?
Yes, myself [Letswriteandshare], fuzziesareourfriends and innocentlittlegirlNOT were the only regular ones with long names that came to my mind.
I had thought about all those suggestions myself. LWAS: no identity.. newbies would not know what that stands for. I want a username that cheers up and invites one and all, ‘LWAS’- that’s, dumb!! LOL. Letswritenshare is…better, but not very fine. I thought of that too. Letswrite&share would be abbreviated as LW&S, some people called me that earlier too, but that doesn’t reveal results in the search engine because it has a symbol “&” in it- and I heavily rely on the search engine for posts addressed to me. Someone very kindly suggested “Write!Share!” in an email- a fine suggestion, but the very-excited thing doesn’t seem like… me.. [If we have to change names, I personally don't think “Yay!” for fuzziesareourfriends is so nice, try something similar to your existing name.] Thanks for the suggestions though.
David and Adam: I’m pooping the party again with a suggestion/question. I’ve seen people having more than 27 characters in their names and THAT’S when the columns shift to accommodate the names- mine has 17, fuzziesareourfriends has 21, these don't cause such problems… is it really worth the change- we can have the older usernames which don’t cause problems remain as they are, and impose the limits from now on, for the ones who register now? Anyway, addressing the “difficult to retype” thing- very few people actually retype usernames, most of us abbreviate even short usernames (Knockout: KO, Hellsangel: HA, etc. etc.).. I don’t think that 17 characters can do harm. If we have to impose the limits now, can the limit be extended to 20? Why the trouble of shortening when there’s no real need (ofcourse, I admit, I say that more because I personally don’t want my name to be changed)? Give it a thought please, otherwise, I have no choice… I’ll get my username shortened [but NOT to letswrite&share the abbreviation of which doesn't work with the search engine]~

I had thought of a 'grandfather' clause for old usernames up to 20 characters, but several mods were against it. Contact moderators and have them e-mail me with their support. If the rest of the team will do it, I will do it.
As for those of you who have had their usernames forcibly changed, I am sorry. I am attempting to figure out what happened and I assure you that you may continue to use your existing username through August 17.
I have no problem with grandfathering at no more than 20, the new ones should definetely be no more than 15. If any of you guys need any help or ideas, please PT or e-mail me, I'm sure we can put our heads together and come up with a happy solution for all.

With the (unexpected ) email of apology, I don’t mind at all that TN had shortened my username. He probably didn't know that we won't want that and it's ok. Thanks for looking into the matter David and thinking about it. I’m gonna start a PT with the mods. shortly. Let’s see..

Can I dedicate my unused letters to Letswriteandshare?
In fact, there'll be enough left over for Fuzziesareourfriends and a further five for .:.+Milady Serena+.:. (she'll need one more from someone else) All contributions will be welcome.
Thanks for the chuckle (and the offer), Asa- I remember thinking about you earlier in the day today and envying you for the shortness of your username! Ofcourse, currently “_” is at an advantage, he/she has one of the shortest (or the shortest?) username that I’ve seen: _
Hope that things would work out well for all ~

Nebody need any donation of unused characters? I liked Asa's suggestion and hence D_w's ever willing to help, reason the scarcity in my own nick. I and Neo had a discussion ( a long one ) and we came up with the donation idea. Contact me anyone and everyone who wants donation of nick space. (I sometimes crack myself up )

Okay, so would I have to register over again with a shorter username? If so, would it have to be less than 20 or 15? Or, is there a way to just change my username... as you can see I'm a little confused.
