What I'd like to know is - what happened to the 'a' and the 'd'? Have you sold them? Are they locked in a draw somewhere? Or have you given them away? Will I see them, like some amnesiac friend, as parts of the name of another newbie?

Something has come to light that apparently needs to be clarified.
When we change your name, it turns out that we are actually just changing your "display name."
There are two fields that we (moderators) have access to:

UserName*:
The name used when logging in. It is not case sensitive.

and

Display Name:
This is the name that will show in the profile and next to the user's posts. If this field is optional and it is left blank, the username will be used.

So, I've checked a few and this appears to be the case. You will still logon with your original username, but when you post the modified name will be shown.

In fact, in the process of checking, it appears that Sentrawoods put the new name for eternally*unraveled*dreamer into the "Display Email" field (which is just below "Display Name" so it's an easy mistake to make), so the change did not take effect.
I have moved the new name, unraveled*dream, into the "Display Name" field and now it should be OK.

Hope this is as clear as mud.
And I'm still not 100 percent sure about this, but this appears to be what is happening.

eap@^^@, I'll just suggest that you not completely change your username. It usually leads to confusion for the older members that have known you, and haven't checked up on the name update. Maybe "eap@@" or "Eap^^"?
It's up to you though. No tantrums from me this time !
If I recall correctly, the @^^@ had some interesting origin based on a teacher's hairbun, right?
