Alice registered and posted for the first time on October 12, 2001. It was a request for help on the “
Who Said It?” forum asking about the origins of
divide and conquer and
united we stand, divided we fall for a paper she was writing.
She became moderator of the
Favorite Quotations forum in August of 2002. She enjoyed participating on our forums (especially
Favorites) and took her job quite seriously.
Alice checked in on February 21, 2004 to say she was taking time off from moderating because her husband had been hospitalized. Then, a little over a week later on February 29, 2004 she posted again saying that her husband had died on the previous day.
After that, life became very hard for Alice, and she communicated with me on several occasions about this. We spoke on the phone at least twice. I know that she loved participating and being of service to Quoteland, and I gave her all the support and encouragement that she allowed me to.
Then, her last post came on July 25, 2006. Since then she has been absent from Quoteland.
All attempts to reach her by email and private topic have failed.
The two phone numbers that I had for her were out of service by the time I thought to try and call her. Since it may be impossible to ever find out what has become of Alice, I choose to consider her Missing-In-Action.
I just wanted to post this and ask that during this Holiday Season, for anyone that reads this, to take just a few moments to send some good thoughts her way, and even a prayer if you are so inclined.
Thank you.
