Some things have changed after the unpleasant closing of the Debate Forum last November.
quote:"In keeping with the new era of debating on Quoteland, membership bans have now been revised and lifted with the blessing and encouragement of the new Debate Forum Facilitating Team."
Two members, Retardomontalban and Apokryphos, still had their access to Quoteland removed. I sent emails to these two members stating: "In the interest of letting bygones be bygones and making a fresh start, I support inviting you back to Quoteland. You will now have unmoderated access to...Quoteland. Whether or not you use this will be up to you, but rest assured I would be happy to see you return."

The Debate Forum Facilitators (EmeraldEyes, enola_catori, and D_w) agree that all requests be granted and I support that. The aforementioned members will now have unmoderated access to the Debate Forum.

Just for that, I say thank you.
Yet another request please - can any of the facilitators, issue an invitation to Trader to return to the DF, too? That would make the circle complete... me thinks.

The facilitators won't be issuing personal invites to past members individually, Ananya. Too big of a job and I don't know........ a bit cheesy really.
As for members Trader and Surgeon....... all Worddistillery Admin are aware of the new era in the Quoteland Debate Forum and that their participation is very welcome should they wish to return.
Word of mouth is an effective tool.

I dunno! I would think giving personal invites to about [one - Euphorion, two - The Tableist, three - Surgeon50, four - Trader] four people is not that big a job, if you divide it between the three facilitators, it would not be two people per person. I dunno about cheesy though.
I am no facilitator, nor can I say I speak on behalf of QL, since I am a nobody here... but I could have done it, if it was asked of me.
The point is not that, word of mouth is not an effective tool, but if invitations were issued to Josh and Francis back, even after the things they supposedly had done which were not liked by the admin, then the admin who at the behest of the facilitators sent this email, might as well invite the others too.
While Trader was not banned, he did leave this place because of some problems he did have and if one can invite the other three here, why not him? I think from what I have read of his posts, he could make the circle complete, as I said before. If you want old glory why not go the whole ten rounds, why just two or three or five?
If they do not come that is their choice, but let it not be said to Quoteland that, they were not called/invited.
If you feel its cheesy, I'd be very happy to help in anyway needed, but I just thought, that since I was a nobody here, I was not exactly the VoQ(Voice of Quoteland) <--- now that's cheesy! While you guys represent the DF, you know.
Anyways its your call. I just thought I'd clarify my statement.
... so in essence I'd understand if you do not want to say it in those many words.... ssssigh!

What's that s'posed to mean? the problem with all those who think they know me, is that they think they know me so well! That's strange. Really! Because, sometimes I feel that I don't know myself at all. So I'm confused, about how these people know me, when I don't know myself?

Now I have truly seen everything!
How could you have, when you have not seen the real me? So please do explain to me, what you saw and what you meant.

I see where EE and other facilitators are coming from, now. Unbanning and invititing are different. Invite one, invite all, that left out of their volition and/or b/c of QL-issues.... why leave out Limn, Againstawayagain (I'mnothingnoone), jh1957, etc... I'd want for everyone to be back, but no need to invite from the administration's side, as long as they can hit the post button and there's no ban.
Trader, I'd like it if you're back, that's what I'd meant by "And echoing Ananya again."

Quite a number of valuable debate contributors dropped away from QL in quiet disillusionment. We won't be playing favourites with personal invitations to a select few, disregarding others. Mondo and Francis were advised that bans were lifted.
It's not about reviving "glory days". It's about a fresh start, a new day.
By the way, I hope we see you back as well, Ananya!

Well if it wasn't about reviving old glory, then why unban past members at all? You are obviously unbanning them, because you know that they are being missed sorely on the DF, you very well know that they were the ones who contributed the most, and enlivened up the DF. In fact I would go forward and say that, that it is the very reason, why the DF was resurrected in the first place... because the admin understood that, Ql was not the same without DF. Similarly I'd say that the DF was not the same without these people.
My take. You are entitled to yours though.

No! That won't be happening. As I told LWAS recently, I don't break promises ...once they are made... though my well wishes are always with the QLDF.
"I was ... determined that the central characters would have a happy ending, but it was quite difficult sometimes to get them out of trouble." -- Naomi Mitchison, Scottish novelist.
...and so I devised a promise, that kept me out, and in its stead, I hope it will keep your forum out of trouble.

It's most definitely about 'debate', the exchange of worldviews, defining opinions..... NOT personalities. All this, in the environment of fresh starts and goodwill.
As for old promises....... we are a new team and as such all old promises, debts and bets made under the old marquee are henceforth, waived!

The debate forum stands as an open door and an open door is an invitation, don't you find?
*looks at self signature and grins*
Let's put some perspective into this!
It's like a house warming party, I have a new house but I have old friends. I will announce the house warming and my friends will not need an invitation.
