I remember the wonder,
the joy and delight;
at knowing that WE
were being chased by the moon!

My brother and I,
on our knees in the backseat,
staring out the rear window,
laughing our heads off.

Constantly amazed ….
even when we hid our faces,
the moon never lost us,
never forgot we were there.

It was safer, we thought
to look out the back window,
than watch the trees swerving
at us through the front window.

That silly old moon,
she never gave up.
The moon was as steady
as Mom’s driving was drunk.
