This almost hurts that I'm going to post something of this low standard, but then that is what workshop is for. If you could not guess from reading this is about a penny and donating it to a charity. I know it kinda ruins it, but see if it is somewhat obvious (because I do want the reader to understand). Also, I wish to know is any stanza's could be omitted, and the ending needs lots of work. I know what I want to say, but cannot thin kof how to say it right now. What I'm hoping is that someone can say the right thing to get my brain started on the perfect wording. I think i'm too tired to upgrade the quality right now, and with that I apologize if it is not very good. I intend to make this better with your suggestions and after sleep, thank you all in advance. (Title need work too? if you think of some variations, I'd love to hear them.)
Mr. Lincoln's LegacyToday I saw Abe Lincoln,
He was sitting on the grass.
I sat and rested next to him,
This chance I couldn’t pass.
We talked about so many things,
Like the state the world was in.
I had so many questions,
Yet he answered with a grin.
I asked him how he’d been of late,
And who had left him there.
I wondered where he’d traveled to,
From upon his marble chair.
But good ole Abe was more concerned,
About the state of all our poor.
He left his throne to try and loan,
Those people something more.
I stood to leave and Abe did too,
He walked with me as I went.
From our talk I was impressed,
Of the wisdom wisely spent.
I knew I could not keep Abe,
Or his wealth all to myself.
And although he was a treasure,
He could rest upon no shelf.
Some would say I’m lucky,
To have met a man this great,
And some would call our meeting,
A plan arranged by fate.
But what Mr. Lincoln said to me
I shall never once ignore.
“Today you give to charity,
Through tomorrow’s open door.”

HAVE A NICE DAY!
