To all the members who participate on the Debate Forum, and in particular those who contributed to the "Why was Jesus So Special" thread:

Some of you have undoubtedly been looking for the thread today, being surprised at not seeing it, given its popularity the past few weeks. Its disappearance is due to my rather careless error. When I logged on late last night, I noticed that one of the contributors had made a doublet reply-two copies of the same reply one after the other, probably from clicking the submit button twice. Naturally I went to prune away the second copy. However, because I have only been at this for less than a month, I ended up accidentally deleting the whole thread, instead of the one reply. What I thought was a simple pruning inadvertently became an uprooting.

I have been in contact with TN, hoping there was some way to recover the thread and reverse my error. But the platform Quoteland uses does not currently have a failsafe of that sort, so my error is unfortunately irreversible. I believe something may be in the works to address that, but it is not currently in existence.

I feel the analogy of a new driver, one who has just put down the driver's manual, and then had an accident the first time out, is an apt characterization of the mistake I made.

I am ashamed and extremely sorry to have caused the loss of anyone's work. I know many of you spent long hours crafting your reply, and to find out that a simple slip-up has made it lost forever must fill you with dismay and perhaps outrage. I know the feeling: my computer has crashed in the past, and I've lost many items I poured my soul into. But in this case the error was human, not mechanical. I especially want to express my regret to Airedale, yellowfairy, klmsc, skeg, Topgun, and many others who have made such eloquent and informed replies to that thread. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

If you have questions, concerns, or suggestions, or merely want to vent your outrage, do no hesitate to send me an email or PT. I will listen to and take into consideration anything you'd like to say, but unfortunately in this case what is done is done. I cannot make the thread come back into existence.

I shall leave this open in case anyone feels uncomfortable emailing me.

Jwpublius

Jw, I'm so confused. Why are you posting under the name ddsfg? You said 'I have only been at this for less than a month'... what do you mean... you've been a mod for years? Why are there so many links to Vietnamese sites at the top of your post?

Jw, don't beat yourself up too badly. It's not like you actually deleted the Bible! Besides, Airedale possibly has that thread archived in her records as is often her habit. She has saved the day on an occasion or two before this.

But sometimes it isn't all bad to wipe the slate clean and start afresh with new eyes.

I'm still confoosed though??

Actually, EE, a DF moderator needs to probably delete this spam. This new member just copied/pasted JWP's old post, I think.

Here's the Why is Jesus so Special redux thread.
