I started this poem in 2006 and ran across it lat night unfinished, I spent all day working on it and this is the end result.

If Only I Tried To See

To see or not to see
Is that really the question!
Do I ignore or get caught up
With peoples transgressions
The man next door beat his wife
She did in fact fear for her life
When he chose to end it all
I chose not to make the call
Into her heart he shoved the knife
Was this truly their way of life?
My neighbor’s kids are doing drugs.
I showed contempt instead of love
Giving them the wrong impressions
I didn’t teach them any lessons
Maybe, I shouldn’t have been so smug
Some overdosed and the others are thugs.
I’m scared and I don’t know why
I didn’t stop them and I didn’t try
When they held up the store
They killed a father of four
That’s when I heard my wife cry
Standing there I asked myself why
I know I don’t like to feud
Morally I’m totally imbued?
What if I lose my life?
Who’ll take care of wife?
Is my reality really that skewed?
Or are my truths just misconstrued
Regretfully, I buried my wife today
Getting down on my knees to pray
the thugs in the store
did so much more
Killing her cause she got in their way
Did my beliefs take her away?

Be strong, be courageous the sun has risen again and we can see. Today the earth has not claimed us, so let us live for who knows about tomorrow……

I've read this QT and I was trying to formulate some decent reply but I ran into walls. I guess there is too much "unrealities" in our realities; too many transgressions by one over another; too much indifference by almost all; seems like there is not much "caring" anymore.

powerful poem. sad at the same time.

NW

"Experientia docet stultos."

" Amat victoria curam."

NW -Unfortunately this is the way of the world. People don't care anymore. They go through life with blinders on. When I corrected DSK changes to my poem in WORD, I made a few more adjustments to it. I also decided not to re post the changes. They improved the poem but not the message.
