Beyond the marshy lake shore
A monarch butterfly falls
He twists on the tawny grass
Just one wing slowly flaps

A sea gull squawks a hungry call
Descends to follow nature’s law
Monarch spins in one winged dance
Sea gull casts an impatient glance

Butterfly exhausted, ends his spin
Reaper rapidly closes in

I do love nature & nature poems. It may not always be pretty, but each creature must seek sustenance. I felt like you wrote this from actually witnessing it, that's how vividly and detailed a poem it is. ~~lb~~

Dear LB,
You are correct! It was on shore just across from Wilson's Ice Cream store. Thanks for comment.
