Spirit Rising

A fragile shoot surviving rain
Tender spirit grown strong through pain

Outlasting those who'd see her fall
She's rising up and standing tall

Never forgetful of her roots
Always protecting of her fruits

Through darkened day and storm wrought night
Striving to keep the sky in sight

She's pruning pieces with the knife
Rebuilds the garden of her life

Sunshine glows in dew drops shining
Buds in bloom and spirit rising

Now dancing dressed in verdant lace
Welcomes the sun upon her face.

D.S. Knight

Be strong, be courageous the sun has risen again and we can see. Today the earth has not claimed us, so let us live for who knows about tomorrow……

Such an idiosyncratic lyrics and idea. The core of the poem is in it's climax. It is really coherent.

DSK~~this is my new favorite by you. Absolutely exquisite phrasing & choice of words. I especially love this:

"She's pruning pieces with the knife
Rebuilds the garden of her life"

Wonderful metaphor! Excellent poem! ~~lb~~

thank you LB, its funny you like that couplet i actually thought of removing it for a bit. it seemed perhaps harsh but i ended up leaving it because it was very true and necessary for her survival. i'm glad you were able to gleen the import and meaning..
