Throngs snake through the street,
the church their destination.
They'll bury him today.

A foreign dignitary? A prominent political figure?

And the throngs turn the corner,
step onto the sidewalk.
They'll bury him today.

A slain policeman? A fireman taken in the line of duty?

And the throngs make their way
up to the steps of the church.
They'll bury him today.

A rock star? A famous movie actor?

And the throngs enter the church
Where the casket stands.
And they'll bury him today.

He was teased.

He was bullied.

He was eleven years old.

He hanged himself.

And they buried him today.

Awwww, so sad. I wasn't ready for the ending. There are no words.

You cough the essences of despair and that so young a soul was pushed that far is hard to digest.

I thought this was very well and tenderly expressed. Such grief a parent should never have to endure. No friends should have to endure either.

A little lost soul who saw no other way out of his pain.

This was so tragic, and your telling of it so graceful.

A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.

Thank you all...it was just so tragic I had to express it. What a sweet young man. I wonder how those bullies are going to feel the rest of their lives. I only hope through his death they will come to realize their behavior is not just harmless fun and be able to change the path they are on. ~~lb~~

Raw, gutsy, and in-your-face. are words that have been used. To me they describe exactly what Rico is all about.
Don't ever change………comments from Songbird in the poem “ Walking Through Hell”
Rico-style
Unmatched - unsurpassed......Rhon831 from the poem "My Fruit"

Rico~~ thank you, my friend, for your wonderful comments. Yes, I am branching out a bit. This one, unfortunately, was inspired by a real incident. I'm glad to see you stop in once in awhile. ~~lb~~

Oh LB,

This was...very well done. I did not expect the somberness (even with it being a piece titled what it was) but I certainly was drained of expression on my face when I reached your intended emotional words.

Seeing your later reply I am sorry that this appears to be a true story. I had been there myself at that age yet did manage to survive it all (and I appreciate what it means to have those thoughts). It is such a very tragic thing and I did not expect this piece to instantly sober my emotions.

You have done well here. Thank you for sharing.
