LWAS - I think the snapshot would work something like this: It would be a small box, near the top of the forum, and on there, it would have a list of the five most recent replies on the forum. I think. ******** About the new rules. I think this is a possible alternative, but I don't think that it should always be like this. It's just not the same. I wouldn't have thought that the bumping rule was this much of a problem.... I asked Jesus, "How much do you love me?". Sorry but one more thing- this “new” implies new in that day- or new since a person’s last visit? Like if a person is visiting on 14th July after 3 days, would s/he be displayed the posts made on 14th- or made since last three days? Applepie- I think that this snapshots thing is better than nothing… I prefer the older thing (bumping one) personally but the bumping and bunching rules were confusing to some people too. Habits can, gradually, change if the change is for the better (hope that this is for the better  , time may tell)~
