Nothing seems to gel with the clues you have given. There is a strong resemblance to
Let the Lower Lights Be Burning by Philip P. Bliss (1871)

"Brightly beams our Father's mercy from His lighthouse evermore,
But to us he gives the keeping of the lights along the shore."

quote:
LET THE LOWER LIGHTS
by P.P. Bliss
Brightly beams our Fathers mercy
From his Lighthouse evermore,
But to us he gives a keeping
Of the lights along the shore.
Let the lower lights be burning
Send a gleam across the wave,
Some poor fainting, struggling seaman
You may rescue you may save.
