It seems to have been originally been adapted from The Bible:

1 Corinthians 13:9-10 :: King James Version (KJV)
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

1 Corinthians 13:9-10 :: New International Version (NIV)
9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears.

"We come to love not by finding the perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly."
