I got the answer to this question on another forum, now closed down.
I have forgotten the answer!
I may not have have the exact wording, but to paraphrase-if thou canst not realise the ideal thou shalt at least idealise the real.

You may well be right, but I do feel my wording, for the quote, is more accurate
Edith F. Black was certainly not the name given on the other forum, called "the Quotations Page", and altho' I can't remember the name Google did confirm the answer provided was correct.
