I really like this quote. I've seen it on poster/painting by artist Scott Mutter. However, I'm not certain if the quote is originally from him, or another source. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

I have seen the quotation on many sites, nearly always associated with this poster:

The Escalator

All of the websites I attended attribute the quotation to him, I couldn't find the quote associated with anyone else. I would have to reach the conclusion that the quotation is attributed to him, and it is part of his 'artwork'.

"Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

Certainly GB3K has answered your query. I didn't like the weblink, though.
This might be a better one

If we define consciousness (elsewhere) as a certain activity, then we should consider the idea that consciousness actually "lives" in the great sea of perception. That is, consciousness creates itself partly out of its own perceptions. We might say that incoming visual perceptions do a sort of flattening-out of our consciousness. We should remember that operations flash many times per second in our mind, so that our wide-channeled consciousness can very well be just as much an illusion as the illusion of motion created by a motion-picture film. It is further important to remember that the very wide channel of sight is altogether unnecessary for the existence of consciousness.
