"what is tragic is when a wild spirit becomes trapped...for one day, it will
be freed; but when it is, it will run faster, harder, longer, and further
than if it had simply been free from the beginning. that particular soul
should be free to roam, and anyone who tries to stop it will be hurt,
despite its own will. do not stand in the way; if you love it, let it
be...you must be strong and secure to know that it cares for you, but you
must not be weak and dependent on the confirmation of those feelings."

If anyone can give me the author and the source, I'd be very grateful! Thanks!

Hmmm... This one is tough because it's so long, but my guess is "A Call of the Wild" or "White Fang" by Jack London... try those if you'd like
