"Seek not to know, but to understand"
This has become a motto for me recently, transending my definition of a quote. Unfortuneately I cannot for the life of me remember who said it, although I am nearly certain my motto is an adaptation or a fusion of other better known quotes. I appreciate any assistance, for the ignorance of the origins of my motto have been bothering me. Thank you.

I could find only one reference for your quotation and it was a part of a larger sentence,

"Seek not to accomplish; seek only to contribute; seek not to know but to understand."

It was on the Isle of Barra website and is from chapter 34 - Strawberry Fields Forever, from the continuing story "Calling the Shots", a mystery.
